Winston Churchill
Childhood
Winston Churchill was born with the name Winston Leonard Spencer-Churchill on November 30th, 1874 in England, United Kingdom. Churchill was born into the Dukes of Marlborough an aristocratic family, which was a branch of the noble Spencer Family. Churchill was taught by a Governess, a private tutor, in Dublin where he learned how to read, write, and do arithmetic. Churchill as a kid was very rebellious and made his way through three different schools before high school, all with bad grades. Also as a child Churchill was very distant with his parents and rarely talked with them or saw them. In 1908, Churchill married Clementine Hozier. Churchill and his wife had five kids by 1922.
Military life
Churchill was a Minister of War and Air and Colonial Secretary to Prime Minister David Lloyd George from 1919 to 1920. In 1922 as Churchill was member of the Conservative Party he also became Chancellor of Exchequer. As Chancellor in Britain, Churchill helped the economy greatly. Britain declared war against Germany on September 3rd, 1939. On that same day Churchill was made First Lord of the Admiralty and a member of the War Cabinet. By 1940, Churchill became chairman of the Military Coordinating Committee, Prime Minister, and Minister of Defense. Also in 1940, as the Nazi's continued to take over Europe, Churchill formed a coalition cabinet. Throughout 1941, Britain worked along with Stalin and Roosevelt to create war strategies. In 1946, Churchill gave his famous "Iron Curtain" speech, in the United States, which was a warning of the strong power of the Soviet's. At age 90, in January 1965, Churchill died in his home.
