Ghettos
Ghettos during the Holocaust were set up by German Soldiers to keep the Jews separated into their own community, often times the communities would be very under nourished. The first Ghetto was set up in 1939 in Poland. The Ghettos designed to keep the Jews apart from the rest of the world eventually were taken over by the SS members. Many Ghettos were invaded and the communities were shot in large masses, other Ghettos were transferred into forced labor camps or concentration camps. The Jews within the Ghettos were forced to wear the Star of David for identification that they were Jewish.
