London
The bombing campaign of London has been referred to as "The Blitz". The word "Blitz" means lightening in German because of how fast the attacks themselves actually were. This bombing campaign had went from September 7th, 1940, to May 21st 1941. The purpose of this raid was to demoralize Great Britain. They had aerial raids on all of their major cities. The German air force had bombed London 71 times. They had attacked vital areas such as railway communication and various docks to cut them off. London had been bombed 57 nights consecutively and more then 20,000 citizens had been killed. The reason why this bombing campaign "failed" was because Adolf Hitler had not come up with a "long term" solution when dealing with London and Great Britain.
